As Macs grow in popularity, many incoming students question whether or not a Mac will be compatible for their coursework at Leeds. Some of the courses offered at Leeds use software that is either tailored to or specific to Windows environments. This includes Excel plug-ins used in Accounting and Finance courses, as well as more advanced software like SQL Server or Visual Studio used in Operations and Information Management.

Students who are considering purchasing or already own a Mac should be aware that workarounds for using Windows-based software on a Mac are available. There are two methods for running Windows on a Mac, 1) using virtualization tools and 2) Boot Camp. Students are responsible for purchasing and/or installing any additional necessary software.
