2nd Annual Undergraduate Bascom Real Estate Case Competition
October 28th

The Bascom Undergraduate Real Estate Case Competition was launched in 2019 to expand opportunities for CU’s real estate and finance students to be exposed to real-world business cases and to develop their analytical and business-communication skills to best prepare them for success in the commercial real estate industry. To participate, students audition for a semester-long co-curricular program which builds upon their course work to include speaking, presentation and team skills, plus contemporary market conditions and analytical methods. The Bascom Case Competition, and an accompanying real estate casestudy- method capstone course at Leeds, have been generously underwritten by Bascom and the David Kim family. A strong supporter of higher education and attendant experiential learning, Mr. Kim recognized early on the leg-up students have if they are exposed to multiple business underwritings prior to graduation, tying together academic didactics with real-world situations.

7th Annual Sherman Miller Undergraduate Real Estate Case Competition
November 13th

The Sherman Miller Undergraduate Real Estate Case Competition was launched in 2013 as a joint initiative between the University of Colorado Boulder, Colorado State University and the University of Denver.  It was designed to give undergraduate students a real-world experience by tasking them with analyzing and then presenting to a panel of industry experts their findings and recommendations for a real estate investment. Initially underwritten by ICSC, the retail trade association, the case projects have featured a retail project.
The student teams have just five days to complete their analysis before making live presentations in front of industry-expert judges and answering tough questions posed by the panel during the Q&A that follows.  Each university selects three judges for the competition.

Gold QuotesFirst off I would like to say the case competition has truly been the most relevant and helpful resource that Leeds has offered. It has helped me immensely in job interviews, public speaking, as well as just getting to learn the lingo and important real estate technicals.
