In true Boulder fashion, the Leeds Outdoor Industry Club and the Women in Business Club teamed up to host a hike up one of Boulders beautiful and easily accessible hikes for their kick-off the fall events.  In an effort to immerse new students in the bountiful outdoor opportunities Boulder has to offer we thought that a hike up Mount Sanitas was in short order.  Our group consisted of over 25 fun-seeking 1st and 2nd year MBA students, 3 brave spouses, 2 slightly dubious friends, and a pack of dogs.

The hike was the perfect way to casually mingle with the new 1st year students and reconnect with classmates that we missed over the summer.  In the late afternoon sun, we got to know many of the first years; where they came from, where they hope to go, and what brought them to the Leeds School of Business.  The mid-week hike was the perfect break from the usual club events, and a great opportunity to take a short break from studying and catch our breath among the evergreens.

After a fun hike up, the mandatory group photo at the top, and a quick trip down we finished our hike just as the sun was setting on the Flatirons.  A pretty spectacular introduction to the Boulder Open Space and Mountain parks, if I do say so myself.

Some upcoming events to be on the lookout for from WIB and LOIC include Lunch and Learns with Industry Insiders, events in conjunction with the Women’s Council, a trek to Denver for the Snowsports Industry Association trade show in February, and WILD III in April. We’re looking forward to a fun, and valuable series of events this year!
