CESR

A longtime business-ethics-in-education advocate finally took a well-deserved seat at the CESR board meeting in October.

Decades ago, long before CESR was even born, Tom LaMotte championed the idea of incorporating social responsibility into business education. LaMotte, ’63 Management, sat on the Business Advisory Committee (a.k.a. the Leeds Board) in the 80s and 90s and was persistent in his vision to integrate business ethics into the Leeds curriculum. When he met Dean Ikenberry in 2011, LaMotte reiterated his commitment to social responsibility in business, declaring that his father would be “rolling over in his grave” to hear of recent corporate scandals.

“Today's headlines are full of breaches of ethical business practices. I feel students need to be more sensitive to the ethical ‘rights and wrongs’ of the business world, and Leeds’ CESR has gone a long way toward answering that need," asserts LaMotte. “Now we have what is considered one of the finest programs in social responsibility in the country.”

LaMotte is retired from his position as President/Owner of Prime Office Systems in White Plains, NY, an executive suites business providing office space, phones and secretarial services to business people on short-term rentals.
