Certificate in Inclusive Leadership FAQs

The Leeds School of Business presents the Certificate in Inclusive Leadership, an intensive eight week leadership program for people managers, mid-level executives, VPs and directors. Taught by renowned faculty in the field of diversity and inclusion, Dr. Stefanie K. Johnson.

General Information

This program is designed to equip leaders with critical tools for inclusive leadership. Students will work from a self-assessment of their leadership style toward the creation of an intentional approach that brings teams together. Tools include:

  • Assess your own biases
  • Ability to mitigate biases within yourself, and your team
  • Building inclusive teams that bring people together
  • Self-assessment on implicit bias and leadership approach

This class is designed for anyone in the business world who is interested in becoming a more inclusive leader of diverse teams. People managers, middle managers, mid-career professionals, or business leaders interested in honing their leadership skills and building their toolbox will all gain from this course.

The Certificate in Inclusive Leadership is awarded to students who have completed the Executive Education class. It is an acknowledgement of a depth of training and commitment to inclusive leadership.

Students will be asked to read chapters 1-3 of Inclusify prior to the first class.

Class Logistics

Once you register CU Boulder will send your copy of Inclusify to the address you provided. You will have a choice of a physical book or ebook at registration.

You will receive an email with login information and instructions for your first class the week before your class begins.

Classes run seven (7) consecutive weeks starting July 9, 2021 from 1pm-4pm MST. The full class schedule is: July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30, August 6, August 13 and August 20.

Dr. Johnson will lead every other week starting with the first class on July 9. On alternating weeks you will meet with a small study group to discuss the readings and complete assignments.

This class is approximately 40 hours in total. That includes 12 hours of class time with Dr. Johnson, 9 hours of small group work, plus readings and coursework.

Students will be assigned readings for discussion every other week, and additional assignments such as a self-assessment, periodically.

You should receive your book within 10 days of registration. If you register within one week of the start of the class (less than 7 days in advance), you may receive the book after the first class meeting. You will also have the option of receiving an ebook instead of a physical copy. The ebook will be available for download within 24 hours of registration.

Inclusify is available as an ebook. You have the option of requesting that at registration. If you need an audio book please contact us at leedsexeced@colorado.edu to let us know and we will work with you.

You will need an internet connection, video enabled computer, and a quiet place to work. The class will be virtual.

In order to receive the Certificate in Inclusive Leadership students must attend at least six (6) of the scheduled classes, including the study groups, and complete all assignments to the satisfaction of the class Instructor. Missing more than one class will therefore result in a failure to qualify for the Certificate.

Cost

If paying by credit card you will pay upon registration. If you choose to pay by check, or have a third party (such as your company) providing payment you will need to contact us at leedsexeced@colorado.edu to finalize your registration.
