Leeds Certificates are a great way for students to specialize in a specific area and customize their degree.  Certificate requirements can count towards required electives (such as business electives, non-business electives and in some cases, the area of emphasis).   See your advisor to discuss how to fit a certificate into your four-year plan. Any of the certificates can be matched with any of the areas of emphasis, so consider your career goals and personal interests when choosing a certificate.

The Business Leadership Certificate

The Business Leadership Certificate provides students with the foundations of theory and research on leadership, but emphasizes professional experiences such as mentoring, internships, and engaging in leader roles. By the time they graduate, students should be poised to embrace leadership challenges as they unfold, make sense of leadership experiences, thrive in a dynamic business culture, and lead with an ethical compass.

Certificate in Social Responsibility and Ethics (SRE)

Offered by the Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility (CESR)
Leeds is one of the few undergraduate business schools in the nation that emphasizes socially responsible conduct in business throughout its curriculum. CESR helps undergraduate students become outstanding business leaders of tomorrow by preparing them to meet the ethical challenges posed by an increasingly competitive, globally-connected business world.

CESR offers the Certificate in Social Responsibility and Ethics (SRE) to further develop students’ ability to meet these future challenges by crossing the boundaries of traditional functional areas of business and those that separate business from other academic disciplines. Students who complete the certificate will see and understand the social and environmental impacts of business and their ethical implications from a broader perspective. They will also graduate with practical knowledge and marketable experiences that will guide them in conducting business in an informed, responsible, and ethical manner.

Global Business Certificate

The globalization of the marketplace has produced a demand for managers who can successfully compete in the international business environment. Understanding the significant cultural, economic, and political differences between countries and regions is vital to international success. Managers in an international business must not only be sensitive to these differences, they must also adopt the appropriate policies and strategies for dealing with them. The global business certificate builds on students’ understanding of the functional areas of business, provides them with an appreciation of the international environment, and supplies them with a framework for developing policies and strategies appropriate for the global marketplace.

Operations and Information Management Certificate

Advances in business knowledge and technology have radically changed business systems and processes—for example, how organizations buy and sell goods and services, integrate their supply chain and logistic systems, and reach or retain customers. As a result, critical to today’s businesses is the ability to get the right information to the right people at the right time, so that both strategic and operational decisions are made properly and quickly. To help students develop this ability, the Leeds School of Business offers the OPIM Certificate.
