Alumni and faculty experts offer unique insights in venture capital, digital transformation, real estate and more.​

CEOs, venture capitalists, economic forecasters and thought leaders are packing the lineup for what promises to be an exciting second season of the Leeds Business Insights podcast, featuring discussions with influential members of the CU Boulder community. 

The podcast, which features conversations with Leeds alumni, faculty and friends, returns to a streaming device near you on Sept. 7. Central to each episode of Leeds Business Insights is the LBIdea, an actionable takeaway designed to give listeners ideas to make an immediate impact on their work and advance their own careers.

Among the scheduled guests for the show’s second season are: 

  • Michael Huseby (Bus’76). Huseby is CEO of Barnes & Noble Education. He discusses digital transformation and the challenges companies face in adopting technology and staying competitive in changing landscapes.
  • Övünç Yilmaz. Professor Yilmaz is an expert on ticket pricing and analytics whose work urges sports teams to adopt analytics strategies and price optimization techniques to better account for opponent, game popularity, seat location, weather and so on. He shares insights from his research showing that adopting such techniques can help a team increase gate revenue by nearly 12 percent. 
  • Jaclyn Hester (MBA’14). Hester is a partner at Foundry Group who is passionate about helping entrepreneurs become successful. She discusses the role venture capital can play in democratizing access to wealth. 
  • Jennifer Forman. An expert in corporate social responsibility who consults at Make More Good and teaches at Leeds, Foreman talks about changing attitudes around sustainability and CSR, and how these concepts are fast becoming a part of every professional’s work life and career plan.  
  • Richard Wobbekind and Brian Lewandowski. The leadership of Leeds’ Business Research Division offers a glimpse of what to expect in Colorado’s economy heading into 2023, with a deep dive on employment, inflation, pandemic and everything else. 

In addition, this season will feature a crossover with Leeds’ other popular podcast, Creative Distillation, which features professors Jeffrey York and Brad Werner examining research on entrepreneurship over craft brews from Boulder-area taprooms. York and Werner will appear on Leeds Business Insights for a spirited conversation on startups.

The first season of Leeds Business Insights concluded in the spring, featuring insights in topics such as supply chains, the Ukraine war, natural and organic products, travel and tourism, entrepreneurship, and more. Recaps of the first season are available on the Leeds website.
