Getting people off their couches and into movie theaters was hard enough before the pandemic made moviegoing a health risk. But it’s a challenge Jim Packer (Bus’85) has embraced.

Packer, president of worldwide TV and digital distribution at Lionsgate, visited the Leeds Business Insights podcast to talk about the company’s strategy in adapting the business and getting ahead of disruptive changes.

“If you were to say, ‘Would you rather be too early, or would you rather be late?’ I'd rather be early,” Packer said. “If you wait and you're late, you can sometimes miss a trend, and then it's a little bit harder to get deals done or product out in the marketplace.”

Leeds Business Insights features conversations with alumni, faculty and others in the Leeds community, who discuss current challenges in business and offer actionable takeaways to help you solve problems and advance in your career. You can find an episode summary on the Leeds website, and can subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
