Nicole Hunter is an Associate Teaching Professor of Finance in the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado at Boulder.
Dr. Hunter was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She received her BA in Mathematics and Economics, and MA and Ph.D. in Economics from the University at Buffalo. Her research focused on externalities, market imperfection and optimal environmental policies.
Dr. Hunter has taught courses in finance, management, economics, and sustainability at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Currently she teaches BCOR 2204, FNCE 2010, FNCE 4060 and BADM 3930. Additionally, Dr. Hunter enjoys creating new experiential learning courses for students and has previously co-created a global initiative course bringing students across countries together in a virtual classroom. This course provided students with the opportunity work on real business problems sponsored by alumni mentors from various countries while gaining hands-on experience with cultural differences, various styles of leadership and international market research. Starting in Summer 2025 she will lead the London Finance Seminar abroad and will bring this expertise to the classroom.
Dr. Hunter is part of the working group responsible for the monthly publication of the Job Quality Index (JQI), which provides insights into the nation’s employment landscape through examining the creation of high-quality vs low-quality jobs. She is also involved with the Good Neighbor Fund, which awards micro-grants to support underserved entrepreneurs in Buffalo, NY and Denver, CO through a community-driven giving circle.
