A Panorama of Perspectives
When students go abroad through the First-Year Global Experience (FGX), they come back changed. Here are the moments that transformed their world.

India: “I was on the FGX BEWiT trip to India! My picture is of one of my friends, Nandini, during the holiday Holi, the celebration of color. We were at a Holi celebration in Gurugram dancing to the DJ on our first day in India when I took this picture of her. This was an unbelievable experience being able to celebrate Holi in India with all the amazing girls in BEWiT.” Neveah Montoya (Eng’27), Business & Engineering Women in Tech (BEWiT)

Cape Town: On a visit to Langa Township, students met with entrepreneurs and learned about the area’s history, culture and economies—then joined an impromptu dance party with a marimba band at a local restaurant. Photo by Kelli Stevens, Undergraduate Programs

Dubai: “Our trip enhanced our cultural intelligence and our understanding of bilateral international relations. It was, without a doubt, a journey of a lifetime.” Dane Westen (RelEst’27). The desert in Sharjah. Photo by Heidi Hulse, Leeds advisor.

Florence: “It was a great experience to learn about the history of this family-owned leather business, directly from the granddaughter of the founder.” Anna Austin (MgtEntr’27), 5th from left

Paris: “This picture was taken at a rooftop farm and garden called Nature Urbaine. It was a beautiful view, and it was a pleasure to learn about hydroponics, aeroponics, and the many ways that they grow their food!” Chaya O’Grady (Fin’27)

Copenhagen: “This is our FGX Copenhagen class on a canal tour in the famous Nyhavn Harbour. The class itself was a great introduction to international business, and being able to travel across the globe was such a fun way to experience the culture, providing some context into Scandinavian business practices.” Kate Chynoweth (Fin’27)
