Driving change to positively transform the future isn’t something Sharon Matusik picked up at Leeds; it’s been one of the defining themes of her life.
“I always loved school. I loved to read. I love fall and that feeling of new beginnings.”
A first-generation college student, Matusik earned bachelor’s degrees in both Economics and English from Colby College before earning her Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Washington.
She joined Leeds as Assistant Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship in 2004 and was named dean in 2017.
“When I think about the future of higher ed in business, there’s a lot of change. Technology is disrupting industry after industry, there’s a lot of social and economic change, employers have different expectations of when people should add value. At the University of Colorado Boulder, we are especially well positioned to face those changes because of our stellar faculty, outstanding connections to our world-class business community, and remarkable students so when we look at the changes around us, we see a lot of opportunity.”
Today, these complexities, challenges and changes are the driving force behind Dean Matusik’s strategy, her approach to leadership, and her crystal-clear value proposition for Leeds as an internationally recognized leader in a vibrant business community that creates economic and social prosperity around the globe.
