Yutong Zhang

Yutong Zhang is a PhD candidate in Information Systems at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research centers on two streams: cybersecurity and IT governance and FinTech and investor behavior. In the first stream, she studies cybersecurity disclosure and IT governance, examining how cybersecurity-related information and governance decisions shape investor beliefs and are reflected in capital-market outcomes. In the second stream, she examines how digital investment platforms and emerging AI-enabled information intermediaries shape investor beliefs and decision-making. Across both streams, her research examines how digital technologies and information shape economic behavior and outcomes. Her empirical work combines econometric methods with machine learning for analyzing text, images, and other unstructured data. Prior to her doctoral studies, she earned a master’s degree in finance in China, where her research focused on futures market risk and quantitative investing.
