CFO at Kencko, a Natural & Organic Company

Mike EricksonMike Erickson is a Leeds MBA alumnus. Currently the chief financial officer at Kencko, a natural and organic company, he is giving back by engaging with current Leeds grad students. Recently he joined the Natural & Organic Case Competition, organized by CESR (Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility), as a judge.

Why did you choose the Leeds MBA?
I had the opportunity to choose from a few high-profile B-schools, but I chose CU for the opportunity to be part of the entrepreneurship program. Rather than focusing on a niche, I wanted a full-circle viewpoint on business management.

What was the most impactful lesson you gained at Leeds?
Participation in the cohort program. Leaning on and learning to collaborate with others that have different backgrounds and technical expertise.

What are you most proud of accomplishing?
Graduating debt free. Ha. I really enjoyed being active in the business community by writing numerous business plans.

Please tell us a little about your career path, where did you start and how did you get involved with the natural and organic foods world?
I've been in consumer product fp&a (financial planning and analysis) my entire career. The past several years I've specifically sought out organizations with social and environmental causes.

Your company is part of the N&O world, in what way will you be sharing your journey with Leeds in relation to the Natural and Organic Pathway? Telling our story. Letting student learn from our mistakes. Lighting the fire for change!
