Leeds School of Business MBA Graduate

An MBA is a Master of Business Administration degree designed to develop students’ business and management skills. The internationally-recognized MBA is one of the most desired graduate programs available because there’s so much you can do with it. If you feel like you’re not moving ahead in your career at the pace you want to, having an MBA can advance your career.

In addition to business and management, an MBA prepares participants for leadership roles in non-profits, government sectors and private industries. It also prepares participants for entrepreneurial roles such as starting up a business. There can be many networking opportunities with alumni, faculty and other students.

MBA Courses

An MBA program offers many general courses within different fields of business. Traditionally there are core classes in a variety of areas such as finance, marketing, operations and management. The Leeds School of Business, like many MBA programs, offers students the opportunity to specialize in a specific functional area like finance, entrepreneurship, marketing or real estate. A specialty gives students the flexibility to focus on their area of interest.

Applying for an MBA

To get into an MBA program, you have to meet certain school requirements. In general, you’ll need to provide your undergraduate degree transcript and GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GRE (Graduate Record Examination) test scores. You may need to write essays, have interviews or provide references. International students may also need to complete a test of English proficiency such as TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). Each school has their own MBA admissions requirements, exam cutoffs and deadlines, so make sure you thoroughly research each one.

Program Flexibility

Most MBA programs offer a part-time evening program or a full-time program. The part-time MBA is geared towards working professionals and it usually takes two years to complete. The full-time MBA option is geared towards students who usually aren’t working and can focus solely on school. Some schools require a minimum number of years of work experience to complete the full-time program.
