BS Economics, Union College, 1988
Richard Parker is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the Leeds School of Business, where he joined the accounting faculty in 2019. He received his MSBA in Accounting from San Francisco State University and his BS in Economics from Union College in New York, and he is an actively licensed CPA in the state of Colorado.
 
Richard Parker began his career in audit with KPMG. In industry, he has served in senior finance roles across sectors, including CFO positions in the non‑profit arena, manufacturing, and cutting‑edge tech companies.
 
At Leeds, Richard Parker is passionate about the student experience and enjoys guiding students to be successful and joyful in their pursuits, particularly as they build practical accounting and systems skills for their careers. He has lived in Boulder since 2012 with his wife and daughter, and he lives for “powder” ski days and the broader Colorado outdoor experience.

Teaching

Richard Parker teaches Accounting Information Systems in both the BS and MS programs, helping accounting students build basic systems fluency and apply it to key functions such as audit, financial reporting and taxation. He designed the Data Analytics for Accounting course in the MS program. Additionally, he teaches Accounting I & II, Financial Accounting for Business Minors, and Corporate Financial Accounting, and he has occasionally delivered Taxation of Individuals in the summer session.
