Dr. Jennifer Bone is a Communication Instructor for the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She received her PhD from the University of Colorado at Boulder (2007), her MA from Colorado State University (2000), and her BA from Cornell University (1997).
Jennifer has taught a number of communication-related courses including communication strategy, business writing and communication, gender and communication, public speaking, introduction to human communication, rhetoric and social movements, argumentation and deliberation, rhetorical theory and criticism, and communication pedagogy. Jennifer previously served as the basic course director at Colorado State University.
Jennifer’s scholarship examines communicative practices that restrict marginalized voices from accessing dominant public spaces. Specifically, she is interested in understanding how social and political structures and attitudes impact the lives of minority or marginalized populations. Jennifer has written instructor’s manuals and teaching supplements for public speaking textbooks (Invitation to Public Speaking and A Speaker’s Handbook), coauthored the text Invitation to Human Communication, and has published in Western Journal of Communication and Women’s Studies in Communication.
