COVID-19

The Office of Diversity Affairs and the EXCEL Scholars Program are aware of the current concerns of students and parents regarding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the KeyBank Summer Bridge Program.  Please know that we are monitoring the situation very closely and our top priority is the health and safety of our students, staff, and the community at large. At this time, Bridge will operate in July as scheduled.  We will of course continue to monitor national and local guidelines and act in the best interest of all.

For the fastest response to your questions, please email EXCEL Scholars Program Manger Jorge Cisneros at Jorge.Cisneros@colorado.edu. If you have questions about the campus response to COVID-19, please refer to CU Boulder’s main Coronavirus Updates and Resources. We appreciate your understanding.

EXCEL Scholars

“As an EXCEL Scholar we were paired with faculty mentors whose sole purpose is to guide us to a path of academic and social success. Knowing that there will always be someone that I can go to for assistance and advice concerning my future is truly amazing!”

Nyaradzo Bere, Junior in Finance & Accounting

Khushali Dave

“As an EXCEL Scholar I found myself desiring to experience a more hands-on approach to learning. This is exactly what participating in the Research Initiative allowed me to do.”

Khushali Dave, Senior in Finance & Management

Ghibrian Avila

“I remember waking up dreading giving up the rest of my summer once moving day came for the EXCEL Bridge Program. If I knew then what I know now that should have been the most exciting day of my life.”

Ghibrian Avila, Graduated Spring 2018 in Marketing & Management

The Leeds EXCEL Scholars Program is an innovative, independent program geared to meet the specific business education needs of students from diverse backgrounds including students who identify as first-generation, low-income and/or underrepresented.  Program benefits include:

  • Admission to the Leeds School of Business for the fall semester of freshman year
  • A $1,000 renewable scholarship
  • Priority in our Leeds Residential Academic Program
  • Connection to Leeds faculty and current undergraduates through our faculty mentoring program and peer mentoring program
  • Staff support and meetings with an assigned Diverse Scholars Program coordinator

The EXCEL Scholars Program is an invite only opportunity and it requires the completion of the three-week KeyBank Summer Bridge Program, from July 12-31, 2020.  Through the bridge, scholars have an in-depth introduction to their first semester business courses, meet with corporate partners, connect with current Leeds faculty, staff and students, as well as learn and experience many of the services that Leeds provides during the academic year.

The EXCEL Scholars Program also cohorts scholars in courses for their first year meaning that all EXCEL Scholars will be enrolled in the same class sections to assist in the formation of study groups and for effective tutoring to be delivered.

If you received a letter in your admissions to CU inviting you to interview for EXCEL, we are excited to connect with you! Schedule your interview with Ruby Batalla, Associate Director of the Leeds Office of Diversity Affairs below.
