A Legacy of Excellence. A Future of Possibility.

From the Tandean Rustandy Endowed Dean of the Leeds School of Business

Dear Leeds Community,

Every day, I am reminded that Leeds is more than a business school—it is a legacy in motion. For nearly 120 years, generations of students, faculty and alumni ave shaped what Leeds is today: a place defined by academic rigor, innovation, and a shared belief in values-based leadership that makes a difference. It is a privilege to steward this institution at a time of such incredible momentum, and to help guide its next chapter.

This past year we celebrated and advanced the very foundation that defines Leeds. We honored the legacies of beloved colleagues; recognized excellence in teaching, research, leadership and service; and welcomed new faculty and staff who will carry our mission forward. These accomplishments are more than milestones—they are a testament to the enduring strength, talent and shared purpose that elevate Leeds on both national and global stages.

Together, we have continued the momentum that began in 1906. Our academic pipeline is stronger than ever, marked by record-breaking undergraduate applications and rising graduation rates. Our students are excelling in national competitions. Our faculty produces impactful research. And our alumni network is more engaged than ever, with over 21,000 alumni connections and $41.6 million in gifts and commitments in the 2024–25 academic year.

Leeds’ legacy shines through five strategic pillars of impact that define who we are and where we are going:

• Elevating a dynamic talent pipeline of students, faculty and staff that is essential for academic quality, institutional resilience and long-term success
• Advancing business acumen and career outcomes that focus on real-world business knowledge and professional readiness that is fundamental to the career success of our graduates
• Nurturing a thriving, inclusive community that prioritizes well-being and belonging
• Bolstering a collaborative ecosystem of students, alumni, faculty and corporate partners
• Driving research excellence and academic distinction that underpin innovation and interdisciplinary strength

As we look ahead, we are not just preparing students to succeed—we are equipping them to lead with purpose, insight and integrity in a complex and changing world. At Leeds, we are redefining what it means to lead responsibly in business, not by following trends, but by setting them with clarity, compassion and impact. See more about the Leeds’ Strategic Plan here.

Thank you for being part of this legacy and for helping shape our future.

With gratitude,

Vijay Khatri
