Why did you decide to come to Leeds? I could have been sold on Leeds just for its perfect location, but it offered so much more along with it. With multiple different tracks accompanied by a wide range of certificates, I knew I could really personalize my degree and learn about the types of business I wanted to focus in on. Additionally, I was truly amazed at the sense of community the school seemed to possess. There were an endless amount of clubs and organizations that made the whole school feel that much smaller with an opportunity for a customized experience.
Could you share an experience (or two) that was particularity memorable at CU Boulder/Leeds? After freshman year, I was able to participate in a First-Year Global Experience (FGX), a week long trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina with a group of ~25 students. During the semester leading up to our trip, we all took a course to learn about international business and specifics on Argentine culture. While on the trip we had the chance to meet with several companies that operate in Argentina and on an international scale (with some city exploration and tango classes mixed in!). I loved it so much I ended up participating in another global experience with the Dean in Indonesia the following year.
Where has life taken you since you graduated Leeds? After graduating from Leeds, I went to work for DaVita, a healthcare company headquartered in Denver, CO. I spent two fun-filled years there, where I was able to learn from incredibly smart teammates and gain a true appreciation and interest in the healthcare industry. I am now located in Chicago, IL working for The Chartis Group, where we serve as advisers to hospitals all across the nation to address their most pressing issues.
What is one piece of advice/best practice that has stuck with you throughout your career? If you aren't learning, you are in the wrong place. I enjoy being challenged and when I start to feel complacent, I know it is time for a change. I also think curiosity in what you do is so important, as it will continue to keep you intellectually engaged. So if you are uninterested, or not learning anymore, step back and understand why.
