Excellence and Opportunity

Accounting summarizes and quantifies the effectiveness with which an entity – a for-profit company, division within a company, not-for-profit organization, or governmental unit -- uses the resources entrusted to it.  It is an analytical tool that allows managers, investors, employees, taxpayers, and regulators to make better decisions. Expertise in the area of accounting prepares our graduates to use and understand the language of business.

Placement at the time of graduation has consistently been over 95% for U.S. citizens.  The CPA exam pass rate for accounting students from The Leeds School of Business exceeds the national average by over 10%. Many graduates begin careers with public accounting firms in audit, tax, or business services.  Others prefer information management, tax, or compliance positions within corporations.  Still other opportunities exist in financial management, not-for-profit, and government agencies.

The program features internationally recognized research faculty and award-winning teachers.  Leeds faculty work closely with national and international business and accounting leaders to generate relevant course materials, and to help create a broad set of internship and career opportunities for Leeds students.

The MS Accounting/Taxation degree consists of ten graduate level courses.  Students can opt to take additional courses.  The degree can be completed in 9 – 20 months, depending on whether the student wants, and is offered, a busy-season (spring) internship.
