Dr. Jason Bennett Thatcher holds the Tandean Rustandy Esteemed Professorship at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado-Boulder. He is also a Full Professor of Management Science at the Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester and an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham. He has also held visiting appointments at the Information Technology University-Copenhagen, the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the University of Augsburg, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Jason studies individual decision-making, strategic alignment, and workforce issues related to the effective use of information technology in organizations. His more recent projects have focused on cybersecurity, social media, and digital upper echelons.

Jason has published in journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Applied Psychology, Harvard Business Review, and others. Jason's work appears in the Financial Times 50 journals about once a year. AISResearchRankings.Org ranked him as the most productive author on the AIS Senior Scholar list in 2014, 2020, and 2021. He has been ranked among the top scientists in the social sciences by Research.com and was named among the top 2% of most productive researchers in the world in a study published in PLOS Biology. Jason's work has received over 17,000 citations.

Jason is a senior editor for Information Systems Research and the Journal of the Association for Information Systems. He has served as Senior Editor at MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, AIS Transactions on HCI, and Associate Editor at Information Systems Research and the Database for Advances of Information Systems. He also served on the MIS Quarterly Policy Committee as a representative of the information systems community.

Jason has been recognized for his contributions to the field of information systems through several fellowships.  He has been a visiting fellow in China (Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University), Denmark (ITU-Copenhagen, Vellux Vellum Fellow; Copenhagen Business School), and Germany (TU-Dortmund, Gambrinus Fellow; Wiesenbaum Institute for Internet Research, TU-Potsdam).

Jason enjoys working with early career researchers. He has advised 19 Ph.D. students in the United States and 15 more in Denmark, Germany, and China. He maintains an active LinkedIn feed for early career scholars that has attracted over 34,000 followers and over 18 million views per year.  Jason has been named to the KPMG Foundation's Circle of Compadres for his contributions to mentoring minority doctoral students, and is a TUM Ambassador for his work with doctoral students in Germany.

Jason teaches courses in management information systems and strategic management. He received the College of Business and Behavioral Science's 2008 Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award at Clemson University. He has taught MBA and PhD seminars in the United States, Colombia, Germany, Denmark, and Hong Kong.
