An externship is an opportunity to gain academic credit for doing substantive legal work with a government or non-profit agency. In accordance with the goals of ABA Standard 305 and Law School Miscellaneous Rules and Decisions of the Faculty 24, Colorado Law's Externship Program aims to help students develop professional lawyering skills, gain insight into various aspects of the legal system and profession, and cultivate a sense of professional responsibility. Our mandatory workshop class also gives students the opportunity to learn from and reflect on their field experiences.
This program is overseen by Andy Hartman, Experiential Learning Program Director and adjunct professor of law. Mr. Hartman serves as the supervisor for all students in the Externship Program.
