The Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative at Colorado Law is a partnership that allows us to make ethics and professionalism a central part of every law student's education.

In December 2014, Colorado Law became the first law school selected to participate in the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative, a consortium of 11 business and law schools that promotes principle-based ethics education and building a foundation for personal and organizational ethical decision-making and leadership.

One of the goals stated in Colorado Law’s Action Plan is to provide students with an excellent return on their investment by educating and training them to be outstanding legal professionals who are sought out for, and thrive in, satisfying and gainful employment.

Studies have shown that professional skills such as leadership, creative problem-solving, integrity, confidence, and self-reflection are some of the most valued by legal employers, yet traditional legal education has long overlooked or underemphasized them. The law school’s inclusion in the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative allows us to develop a range of curricular innovations and extracurricular programming that go beyond traditional legal ethics and professionalism education and extend to the development of students’ professional identities and skills.

Through a range of programming including networking events, speaker series, case competitions, and new courses and curriculum, we are finding creative ways to build these skills in law school to prepare our students to seamlessly enter the working world and add value immediately.
