Recent Public Health Order and Self-Quarantine

Dear students,

I hope you are well.

I’m writing to provide clarification to the most recent public health order issued on Sept. 24 (you received an email from the chancellor about this on Sept. 24) and the two-week self-quarantine issued on September 15 (you received emails from the chancellor and from me that day):

  • The Sept. 24 public health order applies to only a limited number of law students. This latest order requires all city of Boulder residents between the ages of 18 and 22 to avoid gatherings of any size within the city of Boulder. (The other part of the order applies to 36 specific Boulder places of residence, and to our knowledge no law student resides in any of those places.)
  • The previously announced directive for all CU Boulder students to self-quarantinewith its various exceptionsremains in place until the quarantine period expires at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Among the exceptions, students may continue to access the building to study and to reserve study space in the library. If you do come on to campus, remember to complete the daily health questionnaire and follow health and safety guidelines. While another one of the exceptions to the self-quarantine is attending classes in-person, keep in mind that all classes will be taught remotely until at least October 7.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Do what you can to enjoy the onset of the fall season. And please take care of yourselves and each other.

Your Dean,

S. James Anaya
Dean and University Distinguished Professor
