Student Ambassadors Program

Involvement in this program gives students the opportunity to serve as the face of Colorado Law and give back to the school. Additionally, students are able to network and make contacts in the community with people whom they otherwise might not meet, as well as engage with senior Law School administrators. Duties may include: participating on panels, introducing speakers, registering and greeting guests, giving law school tours, and assisting with event set-up and wrap-up. There are also occasional opportunities to travel on behalf of the Law School to regional events. Those students who serve as Ambassadors will be thanked for their service with a catered dinner at the end of the year.

Colorado Law Ambassadors must exemplify maturity, accountability, integrity, and professionalism. Through the program, students are able to practice ethics and professionalism skills that are are essential components of professional success. Students must be eager to engage with professionals and be willing to help. However, students don't need to be naturally outgoing. This program encourages applications from students who are uncomfortable with networking, but would like to improve their networking skills.

Students who commit to serve as Ambassadors must assist with two events in the fall semester and two events in the spring semester. Students must also attend an Ambassadors Orientation in the early fall.

At the beginning of each semester, Ambassadors are asked to sign up for school events based on their availability and schedules. The Ambassador program coordinator, Lindley Bell, will confirm with the Ambassador the events that he or she has selected, and give them the name and contact person for the event. Each Ambassador is responsible for communicating directly with the event contact person by emailing him or her at least one week in advance to confirm the date, time, and details. If the student is unable to attend an event, they must give at least 72 hours of notice to the event contact person and the Ambassador program coordinator so that the spot may be filled by another ambassador.

Early in the fall semester, you will receive an email soliciting applications for the Ambassador program. The email will contain the application instructions, deadlines, and the date of the mandatory orientation. To apply, please submit a one-page statement of interest with your name, class year, and contact information at the top of the page. Include the email address that you check regularly as this is the address we will use to communicate with you.

The statement of interest should include answers to the following questions:

1. Why are you interested in participating in this program and what do you hope to get out of it?
2. What is your preferred method of keeping track of your obligations and commitments, and how do you handle last minute scheduling conflicts?
3. Are there other law school or extracurricular activities in which you are already involved? 

If you are a Colorado Law staff or faculty member interested in having an Ambassador help with your event in a given semester, please email Lindley Bell, the ambassador program coordinator, with the event details. Please indicate: 1) the event date, 2) exact times that volunteer help is needed (not the event times themselves), 3) the location, 4) the duties of the ambassador/s attending, and 5) the dress required of the student/s.

Once a student has signed up for an event event, the event contact person will work directly with the student Ambassador/s to communicate their needs and the details of the event with the student.

Depending on the time, location, or needs of the event, there may not always be an ambassador to staff an event. However, we will try to honor requests and staff each event with at least one student.
