Karen Selden

Metadata Services Librarian Karen Selden was elected to the executive board of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), the national professional association for law librarians and legal information professionals.  Nearly 1,200 AALL members participated in the election. Selden will work with the 10 other board members to decide matters of policy and strategic direction for AALL. She will serve a three-year term beginning July 2018.

Selden has previously served in other AALL leadership positions, including program committee chair of the AALL Annual Meeting and chair of the Online Bibliographic Services Special Interest Section.

Selden’s research and expertise center on cataloging, classification, and metadata creation for legal materials and the digital collections created by the William A. Wise Law Library. She has been published in multiple library journals and gives presentations to national and regional law library organizations. She co-authored the 2004 Law Library Journal Article of the Year, "The Catalog vs. The Homepage? Best Practices in Connecting to Online Resources." Selden has served the Colorado Law community since 1998.
