Richard "Rick" HosleyRick is currently Associate General Counsel and Vice President in Charge of Litigation for DaVita Inc., a Fortune 200 company and innovator in the healthcare industry.  Prior to joining DaVita, Rick was a litigation partner for the law firm Hogan Lovells, where his practice focused primarily on White Collar and Fraud investigations and litigation.  Before moving to the private sector, Rick served the public as a federal and state prosecutor and a U.S. Marine Corps Officer and Judge Advocate.  Rick served eight years with the U.S. Department of Justice as an Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) in the Districts of Montana and Colorado, and served as the Chief of the Major Crimes Section for the Denver United States Attorney’s Office.  As an AUSA and Major Crimes Chief, Rick led hundreds of criminal investigations and tried more than 20 cases in U.S. District Courts, in addition to leading a team of federal prosecutors and agents.  Rick started his legal career in the U.S. Marines Corps.  As a Marine Officer and Judge Advocate, Rick defended the rights of military servicemembers and victims as a defense counsel and prosecutor in military courtrooms in the United States and Japan.  He also served as the sole legal advisor to a Marine infantry battalion during a combat tour on the Syria/Iraq border in Iraq’s Al Anbar Province.  Rick worked side-by-side with the Marines and Iraqi soldiers during combat operations, advised Commanding Officers on the laws of armed conflict, and provided legal oversight of the Battalion’s enemy detainee operations.  He also served as a polling site observer during the 2005 Iraq Constitutional Referendum, and partnered with tribal leaders and local judicial officials to reestablish order in Western Iraq.
