Daniel Sherwinter

Danny Sherwinter is Director of Intellectual Property at Crusoe, where he leads IP strategy for the company. He brings more than 20 years of experience building and scaling IP functions at the intersection of law, technology, and business strategy, with deep expertise in patent portfolio development, IP transactions, licensing, and technology commercialization, spanning individual startups to Fortune 500 enterprises.

 

Before joining Crusoe, Mr. Sherwinter served as Associate General Counsel for Intellectual Property at Lockheed Martin Space, where he advised on IP strategy, government contracts, and data rights across major defense and commercial programs. He was previously Of Counsel in the patent practice at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, and earlier a partner at the Denver boutique Marsh Fischmann & Breyfogle, advising clients ranging from individual inventors to the world's largest patent filers. He began his career as an engineer at The Boeing Company's Phantom Works, where he co-invented patented techniques still used in aerospace R&D, a technical foundation that continues to inform his legal practice.

 

Mr. Sherwinter has taught at Colorado Law since 2011, currently instructing IP Counseling and Licensing (LAWS 7381), a practical, semester-long course. He is a registered patent attorney and Colorado Bar member, a former President of the Colorado Bar IP Section, and an active member of the CU and Colorado IP communities. He holds a J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School (Order of the Coif) and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
