Faculty Positions

Lecturers
Each semester the Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering Department (CEAE) seeks Lecturers to teach a variety of courses to engineers and technical professionals in the areas of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering. These teaching roles are filled on an as-needed basis semester to semester.

The title of Lecturer is given to individuals who teach on a course-by-course basis. Lecturers are hired to teach a particular course or courses for which they are qualified. Instructors will have at least a graduate degree and significant experience in their profession or field of expertise.

Compensation ranges from $1,000 - $10,000 per course, depending on the teaching assignment, instructor qualifications, and what semester the course is being taught.

Fall

  • Engineering Drawing
  • Water Resources Engineering

Spring

  • Engineering Drawing
  • Lighting
  • Earthquake Engineering
  • Environmental Impact Assessment

Summer

  • Statics
  • Construction Surveying

Staff Positions

Procurement and Travel Coordinator

We are seeking a permanent, part-time Financial Services and Procurement and Travel Coordinator. This position will support daily business transactions which include but are not limited to: procuring items via CU Marketplace or procurement card, processing expense and travel reimbursements/reconciliations for employees and non-employees, and completing journal entries, cash transfers and cash deposits. The position will be a part of the CEAE finance team and will collaborate with a variety of constituents, including staff, faculty, and students.

The starting salary range for this half-time position is $24,000 – $28,000 annually. Relocation assistance is available within CEAS guidelines.

CEAE Student Positions

Each semester the Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering Department (CEAE) seeks student employees in the areas of faculty support or program administration. We offer the following positions:

 

Student Graders/Research Assistants

Assist faculty members in their course with responsibilities such as:

  • Grading solely to grade test or term papers
  • Responding to student questions and inquiries about course content and materials
  • Assisting the instructor with course content management and organization on Canvas
  • Researching data and materials for the course

Pay range: $15 - $18 per hour

  • New employees assisting with an undergraduate course start at $15/hour.
    • Starting rate may be higher if the student has unique skills, qualifications and/or experience.
    • Pay rate may increase after the first semester, depending on the student’s performance and length of employment.
  • New employees assisting with a graduate course start at $15/hour.
    • Starting rate may be higher if the student has unique skills, qualifications and/or experience.
    • Pay rate may increase after the first semester, depending on the student’s performance and length of employment.

 

Student Assistants

Undergraduate and graduate student assistant opportunities are available within various units in the Department with administrative and research work such as:

  • Frontline Operation
    • Answering phone calls and e-mails from students, staff, faculty and other customers
    • Working on projects such as data collection, enrollment tallies, admissions numbers tracking, etc.
    • Mailing services
    • Data entry, filing, updating records, etc.
    • Supporting faculty and staff with business needs (ordering materials, office and class supplies; printing; calling vendors for maintenance of office equipment, etc.)
  • Marketing/Communications
    • Posting organic social media content, report on metrics
    • Performing program information audits across CEAE websites and manage updates
    • Captioning videos on the department Youtube Channels
    • Updating alumni database
    • Helping with events organization
    • Posting events on the CU Boulder calendar of events
  • Discovery Learning Assistant
  • Assisting the Finance department
  • Assisting the Graduate advisors
  • Assisting faculty with research projects
  • Helping in the Department laboratories

Pay range: $15 - $18 per hour

  • Starting pay rate depends on student’s skills, qualifications and experience in the respective area.
  • Pay rate may increase after the first semester is possible dependent upon the student’s performance and length of employment.

Student hourly positions are not permanent employees and hired on a semester-by-semester basis. This position is eligible for employee sick leave earned monthly on a prorated basis. The Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering Department (CEAE) does not provide internships.

Temporary Work (Part-/full-time)

Each semester the Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering Department (CEAE) seeks temporary professionals to support in research or program administration. These roles are filled on an as-needed basis up to 9 to 12 months.

  • Compensation ranges from $18 - $60 per hour, depending on the work assignment, qualifications, technical function, and experience.

Examples of temporary work available the Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering Department (CEAE) include:

  • Grant Writing/Management
  • Research Lab Assistant
  • Finance and Human Resources Administration
  • Course Scheduling / Student Support
  • Communications or website maintenance
