Inside Old Main: a Behind-the-Scenes Tour of CU’s Oldest Building
The Structural Engineers Association of Colorado (SEAC) invites CU Boulder students and staff to a presentation and tour of the Old Main Preservation Project on April 2. Built in 1876 as the university’s first and oldest building, Old Main is a beloved icon on the Norlin Quad. Old Main is in the final stages of a $14.3 million, top-to-bottom renovation that will include structural, site and sustainability upgrades.
This event will feature an hour-long presentation by the structural engineers and architects leading this ambitious project and will include an exclusive tour of the building’s key structural and architectural features.
Where: The presentation and tour will occur inside the Old Main building at 1600 Pleasant Street
When: 3 pm, Wednesday, April 2. The presentation will begin at 3 pm with tours expected to begin around 4 p.m.
Those who wish to attend must register on SEAC’s website at seacolorado.org. Registration is free for SEAC members and costs $40 for non-members. However, a student annual membership in SEAC costs just $20 and includes free access to the Old Main event as well as several additional SEAC educational and social events throughout the year. Students wishing to join SEAC are encouraged to use their university email address when applying, as this expedites the process.
Registration and additional information on the Old Main event will appear on SEAC’s website within the next week.
