The minor in arts practices is available to any students interested in our wide range of studio art courses, from ceramics to digital media. Art has the power to transform people and society, which is why we prepare our students to become adept writers, thinkers and cultural leaders uniquely equipped to enter society and the job market.

Our art practices program offers the broadest professional art training in the Rocky Mountain region, including: painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics and electronic media of video, photography and digital art 

Art faculty have showcased their art at more than 2,500 solo and group exhibitions across the globe and have won numerous residencies and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, Fulbright and Guggenheim

Academic Plan & Requirements

The minor in art practices is open to all undergraduate students who are interested in studio arts. Portfolio submission is not required.

To earn the art practices minor, students must complete a minimum of 21 credit hours in studio arts coursework. 

  • 6 credits of Intro to Studio Arts courses
  • 6 credits at the 2000 level
  • 9 credits at the 3000–4000 levels
