J. C. Baur & Associates, Inc. is a Boulder-based structural engineering consulting firm that focuses on commercial and industrial projects. Since the company was founded in 1989, there have never been more than five employees; we believe our small size is one of our strengths, because it allows us to provide a higher level of service to our employees and clients than larger companies can offer. We typically have low turnover; our current staff averages more than 16 years of experience with us.
We presently anticipate having an opening for a full-time entry-level structural engineer, starting work in the spring/summer of 2020. We are seeking career-minded applicants who are motivated and energetic. Our firm has a proud history of valuing diversity, and we expect applicants to share this value. Because we are a small firm, you can expect to work on real projects your very first day. Larger firms sometimes assign repetitive, menial tasks to entry-level engineers. We do not. Everyone, including new hires, shares the workload of design and drafting. Also, because you will be working directly with the principals, you stand to gain valuable knowledge as you begin to prepare for the SE exam.
Our firm offers competitive compensation packages, including Company-paid health/vision insurance, long term disability insurance, a 401 (k) plan, holidays, vacation & sick time. We believe in a 40-hour work week; evenings and weekends are for personal time. If we do ask you to work more than 40 hours per week on specific projects, you will be paid for those hours.
If you enjoy the Boulder area, and this type of work environment is appealing to you, then we hope you consider applying with our company. Applicants should consider the following prerequisites for this position.
