Nov. 20 is Transgender Day of Remembrance—Nov. 5, 2025

Transgender Awareness Week, Nov. 13 – 19,  is a time to celebrate, uplift and honor our transgender friends, family, students, staff and faculty. The week concludes on Nov. 20 with the Transgender Day of Remembrance; an annual observance that honors the memory of the disproportionately large number of transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.

How You Can Be Involved:

  • Attend TDOR Events: Join local TDOR events, candlelight vigils, and memorials to remember those who have been lost and show solidarity with transgender individuals.  For example, CU Boulder Library will hold a Data Zine for Trans Awareness event on Nov. 17.
  • Learn and Educate: Educate yourself and others about transgender issues, terminology, and the importance of respecting gender identity.

The CU Boulder Pride Office builds belonging and community for LGBTQ+ students, staff and faculty. Pride Office initiatives include giving Safe Zone Gender and Sexuality Trainings across campus; holding community-building and educational events; offering one-on-one consultations; advocating on behalf of queer and trans students, staff and faculty and; supporting LGBTQ+ student groups.

CEAE JEDI Committee recognizes Transgender Day of Remembrance as a reminder of the ongoing struggles and violence faced by transgender individuals and the need for a more inclusive and accepting society.
