Allie Davis, a PhD student in civil engineering focusing in civil systems and engineering for developing communities, has been working with professors Amy Javernick-Will and Sherri Cook in attempts to address water and sanitation project priorities.

In August, their paper titled "A comparison of interviews, focus groups, and photovoice to identify sanitation priorities and increase success of community-based sanitation systems" was published in the journal Environmental Science: Water Research & Technology. In this paper, they address why priorities are essential for the success of water and sanitation projects, especially in resource-limited communities.

This paper compares three qualitative priority identification methods -- interviews, focus groups and photo voice -- and uses them to identify community and sanitation priorities in 20 communities in India.
