Bernard Amadei poses in front of a map of the world

Bernard Amadei, professor of civil, environmental and architectural engineering and founder of Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB), has received the Construction Industry Institute’s highest honor for his contributions to the construction industry through EWB.

The Construction Industry Institute established the Carroll H. Dunn Award of Excellence in 1985 to recognize an individual for significant achievements in improving the engineering and construction industry. Their executive committee said that Amadei’s contribution through EWB was directly in line with their goals for global improvement.

The Construction Industry Institute, based at The University of Texas at Austin, is a consortium of more than 130 leading owner, engineering-contractor, and supplier firms from both the public and private arenas. Amadei will receive his award at the group’s national conference in Washington, D.C., in August.
