Professor Keith Molenaar and CU-Boulder alumnus Behzad Esmaeili (PhDCivEngr’12) have won the Jaume Blasco Award for Innovation at the 18th International Congress on Project Management and Engineering in Alcañiz, Spain.

The award recognizes the second-place paper at the conference, and is chosen by peer reviewers at the event. The paper, which was also co-authored by professor Eugenio Pellicer of Polytechnic University of Valencia, presents critical success factors for design and construction projects.

“These factors were synthesized from previous research and presented in the paper, which benefits both researchers and practitioners,” Molenaar explained.

Molenaar, the former chair of the CEAE department, is currently spending a yearlong sabbatical with Pellicer in Valencia, Spain. Since wrapping up his graduate and postdoctoral work at CU-Boulder, Esmaeli has joined the faculty of the Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
