Bio

Hi, my name is Yozaima. As a first-generation student, I understand higher education's role in social mobility which is why I dedicated my career to empowering others to expand their opportunities. I am preparing for law school by pursuing a master's degree in Journalism at the University of Colorado Boulder while I'm continuously inspired by younger peers who are ready to take on the world. When I'm not on campus, I am running a successful jewelry business; attending fashion shows, cooking, practicing photography, reading nonfiction, sewing, or writing.

Favorite Spot Around CU Campus

My favorite is meeting friends at Chautauqua Park to read each other's tarot cards for new beginnings. You can also find me at the Environmental Biogeochemistry Group's office sharing laughs and snacks with the best lab!

Best Part About Your Job

Since the University of Colorado Boulder is a predominantly white institution, I find solace in helping underrepresented students navigate community building, culture shock, and imposter syndrome by offering a variety of wisdom passed down by my mentors.
