The undergraduate degree in media production at CMCI is one of the most creative majors available on campus. Students gain the tools to create new media while developing critical-thinking skills that address the how and why of creative practices. Throughout the program, students can explore a range of media practices, including documentary, sound, performance and immersive media.

Academic Plan & Requirements

For the Bachelor of Arts in Media Production, students will first complete foundational courses in theory and practice and then take advanced courses in media production and critical studies.

Students choose to specialize in one of our undergraduate concentrations, or create their own: 

  • Documentary media: Focus on documentary storytelling 
  • Performance media: Focus on media installation and performance
  • Sound practices: Focus on sound design and sonic arts
  • Immersive media: Focus on immersive narrative
  • Integrative media: Customize a track that fits your specific area of interest

Students must also complete a secondary area of study outside of the media production major. 

This secondary area of study can be met by any of the following: 

  • A minor
  • A second major within CMCI
  • A double degree
  • Any credit-based certificate program of at least 12 credit hours
