Attend the AWRA/CGA Symposium for free!
The 2025 American Water Resources Association (AWRA) and Colorado Groundwater Association (CGA) Symposium is a premier gathering of experts, researchers and practitioners in the field of water resources. This year's Symposium theme, A Journey of Water in the West: Legacy and Progress, highlights the deep historical roots inherent to water development in the American West and how lessons learned can guide us to a sustainable and equitable future.
AWRA Colorado will be sponsoring a handful of students to attend the Symposium free of charge. Students would just be responsible for their transportation.
Students can enter the lottery by completing the form here. The form will be live through April 15 and selected students will be notified April 16.

Earth Day Fair: Meet Sustainability Leaders & Enjoy a Green Lunch!
Please join us on Earth Day for an engaging, sustainability-filled fair dedicated to exploring local sustainability-minded companies with exciting technologies, demonstrations, and products including: Denver Water, Compost Colorado, JeffCO Parks, Independent Power, NEI Engineering, and many more! This event is open to CEAE students and faculty interested in sustainability. Lunch will also be provided from sustainable food trucks with the opportunity to network with working professionals from across the region!

Scholarships
John Fetcher Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District Scholarship—NEW!
The Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District announces the availability of up to two $5,000 John Fetcher Scholarships for students at a public university within the state of Colorado. The Colorado Water Center administers the scholarship. The scholarship provides financial assistance for one year to a committed and talented student who is pursuing a water-related career in any major at a public university within the state of Colorado. Preference will be given to juniors, seniors or master’s candidates (with at least one year of studies remaining) in a water-related major and to residents or former residents of Northwest Colorado or students working on water research in Northwest Colorado.
Qualifications: The recipient must be a full-time student enrolled in a water-related major at a public university within the state of Colorado, financial need may be considered and preference is given to students from Northwest Colorado. The scholarship provides $2,500 support for the 2025 fall term and $2,500 for the 2026 spring term.
Applications can be found on the CoWC website. Application deadline: May 23, 2025. Awards will be announced in mid-July.

Construction Workforce Foundation of Colorado Scholarship Program
The CWFC will be awarding 11 scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 for the upcoming school year.
Apply by April 30, 2025
- Eligibility: Open to students pursuing a career in heavy-highway-municipal-utility construction (rising freshmen to rising seniors are encouraged to apply).
- Scholarship Celebration: Recipients will be honored at a mandatory dinner in Denver on Oct. 8, 2025.

Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund
Apply by April 15, 2025
The SMSF Undergraduate Scholarship is open to high school seniors and college students with at least one full year left in undergraduate programs. The undergraduate scholarship is not open to individuals enrolling or enrolled in graduate or master's programs.
CEC Research Institute Scholarships
The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Research Institute is the leading source of knowledge and thought leadership for creating a more sustainable, safe, secure, and technically advanced built environment. The Institute’s mission is to deliver information and business strategies that guide and elevate the engineering industry through research, forecasts, trend analysis and academic scholarships.
Through the ACEC Research Institute scholarship portal, qualified students have access to more than 100 scholarships totaling nearly $1 million in grants, including:
- A $5,000 NCEES Scholarship specifically for students from Colorado
- A variety of diversity and inclusion scholarships, including those for HBCUs
- Both merit-based and need-based opportunities
The portal will automatically match students with ALL scholarships available to them based on their completed application. Application deadlines vary, so students are encouraged to apply today!
Employment and Volunteer Opportunities
Research Opportunity— NEW!
The Hydro-Urban Bhaskar (HUB) research group is seeking CU students as research assistants for field work studying how various landscape types affect urban heat. We are looking for multiple students to work part-time (up to 15 hours per week) to set up, monitor and remove urban heat monitoring stations. This position will start June 2025 and will run until late July 2025. Students from all majors who are interested in this project are encouraged to apply. The EngiNearMe (ENM) summer program was designed to allow for students entering their senior year of high school to become familiar with engineering as a profession and learn about all the College of Engineering and Applied Science has to offer them. Interested in Summer classes?
The department is offering remote Maymester Analytical Mechanics 1 (CVEN 2121),* and remote/ online hybrid Augmester Thermodynamics (AREN 2110), in Summer 2025. You will be able to see these in class search. Please talk to your advisor if you are interested!
*For CVEN 2121 Summer 25 only, there are required prerequisites of PHYS 1110 (min grade C-) and APPM 1360 or MATH 2300 (min grade C-). Please see your advisor for enrollment help if you have a prerequisite of Calculus 2 but not a corequisite of Calculus 3.
