Pendulum is a concert series-meets-forum for the creation and performance of new and original works by University of Colorado Boulder student composers, improvisers, performers and collaborators from across the College of Music, as well as a space to celebrate works by living composers from outside the CU community. Pendulum values a broad aesthetic range of sound-based art that is inclusive of all genres and manners of music-making ranging from concert music to songwriting, electroacoustic to jazz, and beyond. We strive to contribute to our broader communities, both local and national, through our art and conversations.
Pendulum has welcomed a number of guests over the years, including Ursula Oppens, Nina Young, Bang on a Can All Stars, eighth blackbird, HOCKET, ~Nois, Alarm Will Sound, and annual appearances by the Boulder Altitude Directive and the CU Wind Symphony. Monthly concerts take place on Wednesdays in Grusin Music Hall, Imig Building, CU campus in Boulder, with special events in the Atlas B2 Center for Media, Arts and Performance and other venues.
Student composers and performers work together with individual coachings and also get professional multicam video and audio recordings of all their works. Contact Assistant Professor of Composition Annika Socolofsky for more information.
