Welcome to choirs at the University of Colorado Boulder College of Music!
CU Boulder choirs perform contemporary and historical choral literature for mixed and voice-specific ensembles. Choirs include student singers from across the campus community, welcoming all students regardless of their major.
An audition is required for all who wish to enroll in a CU Boulder choir. There are four parts to the choir audition:
- A brief hello and interview to get to know you. This is the time to mention any schedule conflicts.
- Sing a solo of your choice (e.g., a folk song, art song, aria, or simply one verse of “Amazing Grace” ... we simply want to hear your voice!). We will provide a pianist, so please bring music, unless you wish to sing unaccompanied.
- Vocalises (simple vocal exercises that we will lead you through to determine your range and voice part for choir).
- Sightreading (we will provide one or two exercises to determine your level of experience with music literacy).
