- My name is Sebastian Metcalf and I'm from Longmont, CO. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in mechanical engineering as a part of the BS/MS. concurrent program. I would like to express my gratitude towards the students and faculty who’ve truly altered my life for the better over the last 5 years.
- Alumni are changing the way students connect with industry, demonstrated by the 500+ students and 45 alumni attending ME Alumni Connect Day 2018. The third annual ME Alumni Connect Day was a huge success!
- Soft robotics promises substantial advantages over traditional rigid robots. ME faculty are working toward widespread adoption and practical applications for soft robotic HASEL actuators through a new $2M award from the National Science Foundation.
- PhD Alumnus Charles Kutscher and Professor Jana Milford continue to lead the charge in sustainable energy after Frank Kreith's passing in January 2018. They published the third edition Principles of Sustainable Energy Systems textbook in September.
- Two ME faculty members and one PhD student walked away as LVC grant award winners and one ME faculty member as an LVC finalist.
- Mark Campbell, PhD, the S.C. Thomas Sze Director of the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and John A. Mellowes '60 Professor at Cornell University, presented on “Modern Robotic Perception: From Data to Information.”
- CU Boulder ME performed exceptionally well in College Factual's 2019 national and state rankings for Best Mechanical Engineering Programs for Veterans. Out of 272 colleges and universities, CU ME ranked 14th, putting CU Boulder's mechanical engineering program in the top 5% in the nation when it comes to offering quality education to veterans studying ME. For the past two years, CU ME has also been ranked #1 in the state for veteran friendliness.
- Alice White, PhD, Professor and Department Chair of Mechanical Engineering at Boston University, shared about her research in "Nanoscale 3D Printing to Enable Fundamental Biology Studies.”
