Wireless sensor platform to be presented at 2024 Embark Showcase

WHISPER Energy, a startup aiming to bring to market a wireless sensor platform, will be presented at the University of Colorado Boulder's 2024 Embark Showcase on Jan. 24. Developed by a multi-institutional team under the leadership of Professor Gregor Henze, the innovative technology seeks to optimize energy consumption in both residential and commercial settings by intelligently adjusting usage based on detecting human presence.

Jorge Santiago Ramírez Núñez receives graduate fellowship

Jorge "Santi" Santiago Ramírez Núñez, a second-year PhD student advised by Associate Professor Aditi Bhaskar, was selected for the W. Mark Harty Memorial Engineering Fellowship Fund. The fund awards fellowships to graduate students enrolled in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering with a focus on water resources.

Dear CEAE Colleagues, Alumni and Friends, It’s nearly a year since I began my role as the chair of CU Boulder’s Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering. This academic year we again have a vibrant community within civil, environmental and architectural engineering including 607 undergraduates, 94 master’s students and 106 PhD students. Of these almost 50 percent identify as women and almost 17 percent of our undergraduates are first-generation college students.
