Graduate Student Travel Support

The Graduate School and the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado offer partial funding for graduate students to present research findings at meetings or conferences outside Colorado. Since the Graduate School and the college have limited funds, the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural (CEAE) is also offering funds for CEAE students who are not successful in receiving travel grants from either the Grad School or the College.

Graduate School Travel Grants

Funding

Travel grants are available from CEAE in the amount of up to $500 for domestic conferences and up to $750 for international conferences. Funds will be applied directly to the student's tuition account. If the account balance is zero, a refund via direct deposit will be disbursed by the Bursar's Office. The grant is treated like a fellowship and reported to the Office of Financial Aid; therefore, please be aware it may affect your student loan package.

Funding Cycle

The CEAE department will make limited funds available on July 1 and January 1 each year. Funding will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Application and Eligibility Requirements

Students applying for travel funds must demonstrate that they have applied for both the Graduate School and College travel grants and must provide the results of these requests to be considered. The CEAE department will use the same application that has been submitted to the College. The CEAE department will also follow the same eligibility as the College, which includes:

  1. One matching fund award per student per academic year will be considered.
  2. Advisor funding must be obtained prior to requesting matching grants from the graduate school, college or department.
