Regardless of the budget at the time of proposal, the awarded budget, including detailed cost categories if required by the sponsor, at the time of award is the one that we must follow.

If the sponsor decreases the budget and a budget revision is required, work with your Contract or Grant Officer to revise the budget to match the award amount. If the sponsor increases the budget, your Proposal Analyst should be engaged.

If a significant reduction is requested from the sponsor, the PI can discuss a decreased scope of work with their Program Officer at the sponsoring agency. Addressing this at the time of award is easier than later when funds are low after an award has been accepted.
