Welcome to Music Education at the University of Colorado Boulder! Our experienced educators teach undergraduate and graduate courses aimed at preparing students for a career in music education; combined with unique programs and opportunities for involvement, the CU Music Education program has resulted in 99% job placement for our graduates.
After starting to observe music teachers during their sophomore year, the BME degree culminates in a semester of student teaching. Undergraduate majors will graduate with a K-12 teaching license in one of four specialized degree tracks: choral, instrumental, choral-general or instrumental-general.
Graduate students have the option of taking after-school courses to accomodate full-time teaching schedules.
Music education majors also study with applied faculty on their major instrument and perform in solo recitals and with a variety of ensembles. To learn more about these groups, visit the Ensembles page.
