Urban Resilience & Sustainability • Professional Development Graduate Assistant
Melissa (Mel) Englund is a first-year MENV student in the Urban Resilience & Sustainability specialization. As an aspiring Resilience Planner, Mel’s focus within the program is to hone in on the skills that she’ll need to be the change agent she hopes to become. It was her time spent serving in Americorps as the Community Sustainability and Climate Resilience Planner, working directly with some of Montana’s top sustainability and resilience planners, that led her to this program. She received her B.S. in Sustainable Business from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which laid her foundation in systems thinking when trying to tackle large, real-world problems. Outside of sustainability and resilience, Mel enjoys hiking, exploring new places, and meeting new people.
