Energy Equity Research: Wind energy economic development
Jeremy Stefek

Executive Summary
NREL has a project, funded through the Department of Energy, to increase our research capabilities in energy equity as it relates to economic development from wind energy. A student will support the planning of a Wind Energy Economics and Equity Forum. In addition, the student will conduct research to increase knowledge around energy equity in communities affected by wind energy development. Information obtained from the workshop and research will assist with the creation of a resource to support various stakeholder groups, especially communities.

Amplify expert information from the NREL economic analysis team by creating, updating, and aligning tools and resources that support community siting and planning efforts. These tools and resources are aimed at increasing knowledge and capabilities in energy equity to provide community-level understanding of the economic development associated with wind energy development.

*Please note that NREL will open its own application process up in December 2021. Applications should be submitted no later than January 14, 2022.
