Membership in the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band is determined solely by auditions. Each audition is 7-10 minutes in length and each applicant should prepare the downloadable excerpts; all auditions will take place in Grusin Music Hall, Imig Music Building. Wind auditions for the CU Symphony Orchestra will take place simultaneously.
Seating placement auditions for the Concert Band and Campus Band are held at the first rehearsal of each semester.
Required performance attire for CU Bands
Option 1: Black tuxedo, white shirt, black bow tie, black dress shoes and black socks.
Option 2: Floor-length black skirt, black pants (no denim) or black dress. Long-sleeved black blouse, black dress shoes and simple jewelry. No bare shoulders, necklines or midriffs.

Concert Band + Campus Band auditions
Non-music majors: There is a band for you at CU Boulder! You are welcome to audition for Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band. We also offer the following options:
Concert Band (EMUS 1317/3317 sec. 001) is comprised of a combination of music and non-music majors. This ensemble meets on Monday evenings in the fall semester, and Monday and Wednesday evenings in the spring semester. Campus Band (EMUS 1317/3317 sec. 002) is comprised of mainly non-majors and meets on Monday evenings in the spring semester, only (times TBD). These groups are both non-auditioned ensembles.
