Peter Newton

Dr. Peter Newton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, a M.Sc. in Applied Ecology and Conservation from the University of East Anglia, and a B.A. in Zoology from the University of Cambridge. He is an interdisciplinary environmental scientist whose research addresses policy-relevant questions around tropical forest conservation, sustainable food systems, and rural livelihoods. He has been working in Brazil for 15 years, and has also been involved with projects and partners elsewhere in the tropics and in the US. He teaches undergraduate and graduate classes on food systems and the environment.
